Master-less Master of irony

I sometimes read other peoples blogs and see the irony. One such blog is the following:

According to the article "All about our new ranking system: Part 1 - no phony titles!" Tuesday, December 6 2011 on City Wing Tsun blog the owner is of the opinion that calling someone "Master" is a horrible and unthinkle thing.  Why, when you look at the definitions of the word you will find that he is either gravely mistaken or just someone who has had a bad experience or simply a huckster.

Definition of master

  • a workman or craftsman fully qualified to practice his trade and to train others in it. (as modifier): master carpenter
  • a highly regarded teacher or leader whose religion or philosophy is accepted by followers.

Mentioned in his article, he will no longer use the "old" ranking system. Who's ranking system is he talking about? He must have something or someone in mind that is considered "old". I don't think that all styles of a martial art ranks the same so he MUST be talking about a deficiency of his own making.

He also goes on to say that "many instructors from other WT associations received their ranking without even being properly tested!". Now the question is posed, how does this CWT professed chief-instructor have the necessary skills to teach when he discounts all instructors of the same style or a different style? Would you want to be taught by a "chief-instructor" who doesn't believe that they could master a style of Martial Arts or would you want someone who is "fully qualified to practice his trade and to train others in it."? It's a no brainer.

Here is a quote from the article "In my opinion the title "master" gives people the impression of arrival or entitlement." This statement does not give me confidence at all in this instructor. However, I am glad he finally understands that he will not-ever be a master of WT or anyother style of martial arts by his own words.

He further goes on to say "With these silly titles weeded out of the gene pool, we now have a more progressive and realistic ranking system for both students, instructors and senior instructors." By this token, why even rank at all?  Just let the people train from a Master-less system?. Or what of progress?  What is the final goal to be acheived if not being a master of a style or system.  Can one only be a student forever or is that where you "follow the money" and see who is benefiting from the program.  Now I am not saying that this is the ultimate goal of this chief-instructor but it would be the natural conclusion of a detective.

One more point he makes " Chinese martial arts instructor addresses themselves (on their website etc.) as Master So-and-so.  This is downright idiotic and not even correct in Chinese martial arts!" This person must have forgotten that he lives in the United States and freedom of speech is still a thing here.

Another quote:"The head of CWT (me) is just the chief-instructor.  To pollute the world with more self-created grandmasters is a disservice to WT." as to this quote, he has in effect dissed every martial arts system and martial arts instructor in the world by his own professed statement and aforesaid article. I would not want to be him after saying something like that!

You know alot of times "Delusions of grandure" often settle in and I think that this particular "chief-instructor" will change his mind on the "Master-less business" when he becomes bored and moves on to greener pastures.

To Vote Or Not To Vote

To Vote or not to vote - that is the question or is it the answer?  It is the duty of  american citizens to vote in elections.  It is the duty of American citizens to know as much about their representatives so they can make an informed decision. Don't go to the polls and toss a coin, or use the finger test.  Oh you don't know about that one?  It is easy, saved me a few times in school on tests.  Will have to tell you about it later.

Anyway,  whoever you vote for whether you are thinking green, going democrat, conserving your vote for a republican or being an individual and voting independent or waiting to see what the tea party has in store for us all, make sure you know who you are voting for.  Do your due diligence and hold your candidate to their promises.

Many times we let the politicians get in to office and then they slack off.  Remember we are their bosses.  Would you let your employees slack off and just do whatever?  I mean what in the world are they doing with the expense accounts?  Really small business people know better how to use money better than a politician.  But I digress...

Just make sure you get out there and vote and vote well.  I will see you there.  Got to get me that sticker that says "I voted"!

This is only a Test - of Google Chrome

This is a test.  This is only a test - of Google Chrome.

While updating the latest Real Player, I unwitting downloaded Google Chrome.  Not knowing until I saw the unmistakable "New programs installed" on the start menu and wondering when in the world I had done that.  And wondering when and if someone hacked my computer or if my kids had done something when I turned my back...

After Real Player had finished installing a voice thanked me for installing it and told me about the installation and to try Google Chrome.  So I thought instead of being irrate I would give it a try.

First of all, there is a problem with it not supporting some of my addons.  So I had to make sure it could handle them in some way.  Chrome proved to transfer my bookmarks, history, but did not transfer my passwords.  I had to go to another site that I use for passwords and see if there was a  fix for this.  There was a beta so I am trying it.

It will take some adjustments to get used to chrome, but I like the stream lined look already.  I do like firefox/mozilla speed and their addons.  I have used Internet Explorer and was happy when I found out about Firefox.  So we shall see which one I use from here on out.

If you have a favorite or a different one, please let me know.  I would be interested in any options you have found that are helpful and where you found them.

Thank you.

Easy Video Producer Take a look around the internet today and one thing you’ll see more of is videos.More and more, even the ‘gurus’ are making use of this medium to advertise their products and services.
Do you doubt me on that?
If so, think about the last big launch?
Who was the guru and what did he say?
No, I don’t mean what did he write, I mean what did he ‘say’.
Because, invariably, every single launch that’s happened over the past few months not only had an element of video in its sales letter……in most cases, the video IS the sales letter.Yes, you may see a page with writing on it, but count the number of words.
Chances are, you could actually count the words in a matter of seconds. Before video I couldn’t imagine anyone would want to even attempt to count the words –the sales letters for big launches are way too long. And let’s face it, when it comes to high ticket, expensive products, the sales pitch has got be substantial as most people want to know as much as possible about a product before they splash out that amount of money.
The good thing with video is now you can write a sales pitch as long as you want, and people will most likely site there and watch it… especially if the delivery is entertaining. Now tell me, when was the last time you found a written sales letter entertaining?

Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death

Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775.

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The questing before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.
